The AIMIA / AGO Photography Prize is Canada’s largest photography prize with more than $85,000 in cash prizes directly to artists working in photography. Each year, the Prize recognizes four artists whose work has exhibited extra-ordinary potential over the preceding five years and are chosen by an international nomination process. Founded in 2007 and formerly known as The Grange Prize for Contemporary Photography, the Prize was the first major art prize in the world to invite the public to choose its winners, with the main prize amounting to $50,000. The finalists this year selected from a long list of 14 artists are: Edgardo Aragon (Mexico), LaToya Ruby Frazier (U.S.), Chino Otsuka (Japan/U.K.) and Erin Shirreff (Canada). The winner will be announced on November 7, 2013. The works of the finalists are currently on exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
